History
Established in 2004 as a Subchapter S Corporation, Botts-Inc has focused on the development and application of open-standards for improving interoperability, processing, and fusion of sensor observations and alerts within the intelligence, defense, and scientific communities. Primary contracts at Botts-Inc have come from Seicorp, Inc., TASC, SAIC, Northrop Grumman, Great Circle Technologies, and the Open Geospatial Consortium, with government support being from the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and NASA.
Initially operated as a part-time consulting firm, Dr. Botts left his full-time position at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in August 2009 and dedicated his efforts full-time to supporting and expanding the consulting and commercial development activities at Botts-Inc. The corporation continues to serve as a source of Subject Matter Experts for SensorML and SWE within the Intelligence, Defense, and Science Communities, while developing commercial capabilities for supporting easy entry into sensor webs.
